Trade with Instagram Friend Robert aka Huskys.Sportscards : 2013 Topps Tier One : Sandy Koufax Autograph Copper Rose Ink Parallel (16/25) BGS Graded Gem Mint 9.5

This is the 3rd time I have held this specific card in my hands but this is the 1st time I can claim it as my own as I was finally able to secure it on a trade after it had been handled by many hands.

Frankie was the original owner of this card as he sent it to me to be included in our joint BGS submission batch and I thought it would have a decent chance of earning a 9.5 from Beckett. The only thing that worried me was the autograph but it indeed earned a gold banner and a 10 on auto. When I received it back from Beckett I informed Frankie that if we could ever come to some type of deal I would love to have it, With that I sent it back to Frankie and we had some soft trade talk but before I could acquire it he traded it to Robert. I turned my attention from Frankie to Robert and hoped to trade for it from him. Once it became available he and I completed the trade within a couple of days as I had to wait for funds that were due to me from eBay as I did not want to use any out of pocket money.

While I would have loved this to be a 1 for 1 card trade I knew that I had to include some money to make it happen. In the end I sent Robert over some cash and a card and I finally picked up this limited, gem mint beauty of Koufax. When I first looked into getting a Koufax autograph for my collection I was going to be content with just one great copy but now with this addition my Koufax count is up to 5! I barely have more Trout auto cards than I do Koufax autos and I consider Trout more primary than Sandy. Go figure as you never know how the card world turns.

Thank you again to Frankie for submitting this and letting me know of its existence and to Robert for the trade. This is my first trade completed with Robert but I doubt it will be the last.

Card of the Day - 2013 Topps Tier One : C.J. Wilson Autograph Silver Variant ( 4 / 10 )

I was trolling one day on eBay ( lets be honest that's everyday ) and just seeing what cheap autographs could be had. Came across this one of current Angel pitcher C.J. Wilson in silver ink. I do love me some silver variant autographs.

There is no book value assigned to the card due to its scarcity. The base version, which is numbered to 99, is valued at $12. This silver one is limited to 10 copies so I would assume that if there had been a book value it would be somewhere in the $25 range at the very least. Well after all was said and done I won this on a traditional auction in the single digits. Not a lot of demand for this pitcher and that is fine by me. I know C.J. signs at the stadium and public events but if I can pick his autograph up for a minimal cost then I can just bypass the commotion of in person crowds. Great looking card.

Card of the Day - 2013 Topps Tier One : Bill Buckner Crowd Pleaser Insert Autograph ( 107 / 299 )

When most people think of Bill Buckner they remember the infamous play that he was a part of back in the 1986 World Series that is still talked about to this day. For the most part he has moved on from this and with Boston winning a few of World Series since then the hatred has mellowed there too. But most people forget that Bill was a Dodger long before that play. I have been looking to acquire his autograph for some time and finally have done so.

I am still on the lookout for a signed baseball of Bill but until I can find one of good quality and at a reasonable price I turned my attention to an on card for my autograph fix. Problem was that I never could find him depicted in Dodger blue. That is until this set came out. This is my first Tier One card that I have acquired and what a way to start. The autograph is on card and not the sticker variety. A plus in my eyes. With the card being numbered out of 299 that put a bulls eye on it for collectors. I lost numerous auctions as I was not willing to pay over $10 for it as every single auction I was involved in ended at. After a few weeks of futility I finally was able to lock this particular one down for less than $7. Card came in a week later and looks better in person than on the computer screen. Just love these old timey pictures of Dodgers. Couldn't be happier.
