Yet ANOTHER Trade with Fellow Blogger, Alex of Chavez Ravining

With trade number 5 just recently completed with Alex I was already going through his trade bait list to see if I could acquire some more cards for another trade. I found a few to my liking and it was time to reach out once again to Alex to see if he would part with them.

With my focus back to black and blue parallels from chrome brands and autographs in general I have most of my cards that don't fall into those two categories on my trade bait list (take a gander and maybe we can do a trade) so I am looking to move those to acquire my other needs. Looked at Alex's stuff and though he denied me on a couple (actually expected that but I had to try anyways) I was able to secure 3 with no issue with a 4th one needing a little arm twisting.

I ended up sending him 7 cards that he would accept and a few other toss ins and these are the ones I received in return.

2008 Bowman Sterling autograph of former Dodger Josh Lindblom. Even though this is a sticker autograph it still has higher value to me rather than the non autograph cards I gave Alex. I liked Josh when he played for the Dodgers. He was a decent pitcher and even a better person off the field as he contributed to the community.

2013 Bowman Sterling autograph of Dodger prospect Chris Anderson. Even though I have a couple of autographs from Chris there is no harm in picking up another. This being an on card autograph makes all that much better. He may or may not make an impact in the majors but he has always denied me an autograph when I have attended games in Rancho Cucamonga so hopefully this is not a trend he will continue if and when he makes it to the majors.

2011 Tier One autograph of current Dodger second baseman Dee Gordon. Though I don't really "need" another autograph of Dee as I have a couple already, I wasn't going to pass up on an opportunity to add one if I could and this card has a great pose of Dee accompanied with an on card signature.

2009 Allen and Ginger Mini Frame autograph of former Dodger Blake DeWitt. There are a few reasons why I wanted this card and this was the one that Alex didn't want to let go of but in the end he did thankfully. Firstly I haven't been able to find an autograph of Blake since I sold the signed ball of his during the ball purge. While not at the top of the list to reacquire he was still a priority. Secondly, Blake was the first autograph I got when I started going back to in store appearances way back 2008 when he burst onto the scene. He was a class act that day and I remember that when players are like that. And thirdly its an Allen and Ginter mini frame which are just nice in general.

4 more cards from Alex and another trade is complete. Thank you as always and with number 6 done I'm already looking forward to number 7.

Card of the Day - 2013 Bowman Chrome Draft Picks : Chris Anderson Base Black Refractor Parallel ( 26 / 35 )

Always on the hunt for the black parallels of Dodger players. As stated in a previous post I was able to acquire two black cards of Dodger players for a grand total of $10. A nice bargain but the purchase of this card trumps both of them.

On the same day that I bought those two I continued to look for some more black chrome and found this Chris Anderson copy from the same set and numbered out of 35 like the others. Chris was the big pick from last year's draft as his prices reflect that. Book for this card sits at $25. Well the seller was only asking $6 on a BIN auction. Post haste I went ahead and purchased this lovely card. All three cards made it to the house on the same day but this one was best of the bunch.

Card of the Day - 2014 Bowman Inception : Chris Anderson Base Autograph Blue Parallel ( 30 / 75 )

The second of the three Dodgers that I am pursuing within this year's Bowman Inception set has now been acquired.

I had already gotten my hands on Guerrero and now needed Anderson and Urias. Surprisingly enough the Anderson card was going for way more than I was willing to spend. Book value has it at $10 but most of the auctions that I partook in ended at or over that amount. eBay is supposed to be bargain hunting right? Ha Ha. Anyways, with only 75 copies of this blue card I had to keep my eyes open for any new copies that might show up. Finally this one came up for sale and had a reasonable asking price on a tradition auction. Had to wait a full 7 days but at the end of it I was the one and only bidder on the auction and became the proud owner of the card.

I have missed Chris the few times at Rancho Cucamonga so I have yet to acquire his autograph in person but considering the season he has had ( average at best ) I suspect he will start next season there so hopefully I can get him then. Till that happens though I have this nice blue copy to tide me over.

Two down with Urias the final one to acquire and my mini project will be complete.

Card of the Day - 2014 Bowman : Chris Anderson Base Mini Chrome Blue Parallel ( 91 / 250 )

... and one mini project within the 2014 Bowman set comes to a close.

A small but important 5 card parallel set is complete with the acquisition of Chris's blue card here. This card made it to my doorstep first but I purchased it last so I consider it the last one to complete the set and for 99 cents I couldn't be happier.

I do love the blue "paint stroke" on these cards and would love it if they did it on the normal size cards but till that day happens we have these every year in mini form. By the end of 2015 Chris could be the #2 prospect in the system as Joc should be up in the majors with Seager with an outside chance of making it as well. We shall see.

Card of the Day - 2013 Bowman Draft Picks : Chris Anderson Bowman Black Collection Autograph ( 9 / 25 )

I acquired my first couple Anderson cards recently but I was on the lookout for my first autograph of the man. I finally stumbled upon one.

Though the Bowman Chrome brand has a blue parallel version that has a print run of 99 which I may or may not go after sometime in the future I knew this little beauty existed and in my opinion his signature looks better on this silver on black card rather than the blue on blue one. The silver signature just looks more bold.

The card only has a print run of 25 and I have had seen plenty already sell on the bay ( at least 6 ) which means the quantity was dwindling or least till the eventual resales of said cards starts. Like most new hot and limited cards the asking price was higher months ago so I waited it out and this particular one went on sale and ended at an odd time ( east coast wise ) and I became the lucky winner.

Chris is a 21 year old pitching prospect so I don't expect to seem him anytime soon in the big leagues but if he ever makes a name for himself this card will for sure be one of the few to have in your collection.

Card(s) of the Day - 2014 Bowman : Zach Lee, Joc Pederson and Chris Anderson Mini Chrome Insert Plus Others

Another multiple card purchase where I didn't need all of the cards within the auction but unlike the big blue purchase awhile back I do not intend to sell the ones I don't need as the money factor will not work in my favor and I would end up losing money. So I will hold them over for some trade down the road.

I needed Joc, Zach and Chris in their mini chrome form from the 2014 Bowman set but couldn't find them at a reasonable price. A seller happen to have all 3 along with duplicates of Joc and Zach and a Corey Seager which I already had. Asking price for all 3? 99 cents for the starting bid. I put my bid in at the very end and won it for the grand total of just $1.04 for all 6 cards.

So each card I needed cost me only 35 cents with the other 3 as trade bait. Anybody looking for these? Contact me if interested.

Card of the Day - 2014 Bowman : Chris Anderson Top 100 Insert Die Cut Parallel ( 98 / 99 )

Glad to have picked up this card but irritated at the price I ended up paying for it.

There are a few die cut parallels to be had of Dodger players from this year's Bowman set and Chris is the second one to make it into my hands but the 1st where I felt that I overpaid.

There are only 99 copies of each die cut so that supply will dry up soon enough and I wanted to get my hands on it as soon as possible. I ended up winning the auction but I put in the wrong amount in and the final price got driven up to $5. Not a lot but most have closed at under $3.50. Oh well, so I lost a buck fifty. Could have been worse. A couple more die cuts to buy and I will be done with this small yet sometimes hard to put together set at a decent price.

Card of the Day - 2013 Bowman Chrome Draft Picks : Chris Anderson Base Black Wave Parallel

Finally acquired a card of the Dodgers top pick from the 2013 draft. I have had my eye on various autographs cards of Chris but have yet to land one due to the high closing cost on all of the auctions I've seen. Till then I wanted to at least get a non auto card of some sort. I did a little better by picking up a black wave parallel. It is not a numbered parallel but at the same time it is not as abundant as the regular cards. I am not the biggest fan of either of the wave parallel ( black or blue ) but the cost of the card was so low and the wanting of an Anderson card trumped the likability of the card. I am sure I will get my hands on a more desirable one in the future which will make this card expendable. Till then welcome to the collection Chris.
