Actual Prizes For The #kershawwalletcardcontest

I have been running my #walletcard contest here on the blog and on Instagram for the past couple of months but held off on showing what you are all playing for. On the blog I ran a poll on what Kershaw autograph you would prefer. An 8x10 signed photo or a team ball that includes his autograph but has smudges on some of the other signatures. The ball won out in a 2 to 1 difference so finally here are the prizes you have your choice from at the end of the contest. For reference on how these will be dolled out and "rules" on the contest feel free to read about it HERE . I might add an autograph or two as the contest continues but no guarantees. I will say that every 5 follows that the blog adds I will FOR SURE add an autograph. Pimp it !!!

Trade with Fellow Blogger : Judson of My Cardboard Habit - 2014 Bowman Chrome Yimi Garcia Base Autograph Refractor ( 301 / 500 ) Plus Bonus Card

This is my second trade with Judson of My Cardboard Habit and just like the first one this one was completed without a hitch.

A couple weeks ago I checked up on his blog and saw that he did a post on his trade bait inventory. Though he has/had a long list of cards that were up for grabs I did not expect much in the way of Dodgers and I was right. I scrolled down to the Dodgers section there was but one lone card BUT it was the card I needed to complete my mini Yimi project from this year's Bowman Chrome release.

I already had the blue autograph parallel and I have been waiting for the base refractor to come down in price on eBay so I could snatch it up but Judson had it and was willing to part with it. I contacted him and he put it aside for me till we could figure out what I could send him in return. He was looking for Rangers autographs but I had none as I am not a Ranger collector but thankfully he still had some base Topps needs from the 2013 release. I think it was about 14 cards I sent him and he was content with that. Within the week we both had our cards and from my side I couldn't be happier. Thank you again for the card.

. . .but wait there's more. In addition to the Yimi card he threw in this gold parallel of Ricky Nolasco from the Topps Chrome issue. I tried to forget that he was on the Dodgers but Judson reminded me that he was. Thanks. Ha Ha.

Thank you for the bonus card. Not sure where it will slot into my collection but I am sure I will find a good place for it.

2014 Topps Museum Dodgers Case Break

Topps just released their 2014 Museum set and being a fan of last year's I wanted to get in on this new issue. Unlike last year I just bought the singles here and there. This time around I decided to get in on a 12 box case break and try my luck on some of the hard and rare cards that I could flip and make some extra cash of just pay for the break in general. Like all other sets I still want/ed to complete the base set along with the blue parallels. With the Dodgers only having 5 players in the set that meant no more than 10 cards that I would be chasing. One annoyance was the inclusion of Ricky Nolasco. Really? No Ryu, Greinke, or Kemp? We get stuck with a pitcher that is no longer with the team. Go figure. With that said the first card is the one up above which is the base version of Adrian

Within the 12 boxes I ended up with 2 base Kershaw cards. Obviously one will be for my own personal collection but the other one is up for trade and if not I might contest it out with ... 

... one of these 2 Koufaxs that were also in the case. A great one two punch and of course if I was to do that I might as well add in one of these ... 

...yeah... I didn't even want him in the set so my break gives me two of him. I am sure someone will want it though. 

Next up were two different Puigs. The base one I wanted for sure and will be on the lookout for the blue parallel but the case also gave me the copper parallel. Not sure what I will do with that as of yet. Think it holds a little more trade value rather than contesting it out. We shall see.

Also received the copper version of Adrian. This one is up for trade if anyone wants it. 

An Adrian parallel that I will be keeping though. I am glad I scored one of the blue cards so I don't have to go searching for it online.

Now for the inserts. Jackie is not represented in the base set but he does appear in the Canvas Collection insert set. The card has a portrait feel to it's surface and not the normal slick coating. My Jackie collection is sorely lacking and this is a welcome addition.

I just knew since I talked crap about Nolasco that my one "hit" of an autograph would be of him. I have nothing more to say.

Onto the first of two relic cards that were in the case. This jumbo is of Chad who I hope makes a full recovery and can rejoin our team in a month. Card has been selling for a few bucks on eBay so it won't being going there. Might keep it, might trade it. Anyone interested?

And now for my big hit. A quad relic of Yasiel numbered to 75. Thankfully it is of the two color variety as that will help it's resale value. This is already on eBay and previous sales have been anywhere between $50-$75 so as long as it's in that ballpark I will make my money back. 

That is all folks. I am quite disappointed with my luck on this break. Sometimes you win and sometimes you don't but thankfully I have the outlet of eBay to help me recoup the funds back. Great looking cards and I may just try one more break and see if my luck changes.

I purchased the card for a couple dollars but then I won another copy in my Dodgers case break so I am passing along the goods to my readers. Same rules apply. Card of the Day - 2014 Topps : Ricky Nolasco Trajectory Autograph

This card will have a short lived existence in my collection. 

I wanted to get my hands on some cards from the newly released 2014 Topps set and while I haven't bought a box yet I have been keeping my eye on single cards to acquire. My checklist wasn't complete as I didn't realize that this card existed. The card was selling on eBay close to $10 right out the gate. Yeah, no. Wasn't going to pay that much for a player that no longer was on the team nor had that much of an impact while he was on it. A few days later this particular copy was being offered with no traffic. Final day arrived and I won it for a couple dollars. A decent purchase. 

Now you ask why this card won't be in my possession for long? Because I just won it in my first ever box break on eBay (more on that when I receive the cards). I love autographs but I do not need 2 Ricky's in my collection of the same card. So what to do with it? Well as try to pay it forward a little with various contests I will be putting this one in a contest in a couple of weeks. Good luck to those who participate in the contest.

Attended Game Recap : July 27th vs Reds - DODGERS 4 Reds 1 . . . Also Ball(s) of the Day : Ricky Nolasco ( ROMLB Sweet Spot ) and Yasiel Puig ( ROMLB Side Panel )

It has been a long 6 weeks since I was last at Blue Heaven on Earth better known as Dodger Stadium. Wanted to attend a weekend game and wanted to go autograph hunting so I picked this game to go to and was able to arrange seats in the Prime Ticket Club section down the 3rd base sideline. Better opportunity to acquire some autographs. Prior to entering the stadium I ran into Dave who is the author of his own blog seen HERE , hopefully he picked up some autographs.

Headed into the stadium and there wasn't much action on the autograph front. I did hear that Brandon League signed prior to me getting in but that is no big loss and I already had him. Kemp came out to test his ankle and a few fans and I hoped he might swing over and sign but in the end he did not. I still need this years bobblehead signed. Next time.

Thought I was going to miss out on any autographs until I noticed that Ricky Nolasco was signing near the foul pole. Raced over there and hoped I didn't miss out but thankfully he was running the line and I got in there and he was kind enough to ask where I wanted the signature and obviously I said sweet spot which he accommodated. Welcome once again to your boyhood team. Keep up the good work so far and thank you for signing for me.

Batting practice was over and I headed back to my seat and thought maybe Andre Ethier would sign but he never came out but Yasiel Puig and Hanley Ramirez did come out and did their stretches near me. I heard a Spanish speaking gentleman communicating to Yasiel and he said to the group that he would come over and sign for us. Ooohhh. Hanley finished up and started to head for the dugout and I thought I missed on him but he decided to sign for a group and thankfully my wife came over to hold my spot for Yasiel but I was too late for Hanley. He left right when I got there. Headed back to the wife and right about then Yasiel ran into the dugout. Well that sucked and thought oh well at least I have him on a gold ball but I want to add him on regular white ball. Went back to my seat and right prior to the national anthem him came back and no one was standing around he started to sign for a kid in front of him. Grabbed a ball and pen and jumped over and hoped to get a signature but I noticed he started running the line with a sharpie. I pulled back and waited and he finally picked up another blue pen and I stuck my hand out again and I was lucky enough to get a signature. Unfortunately he side paneled me. Ugh. I am a stickler for sweet spot balls unless they are team signed ball. I have decided to throw it up on eBay and will sell it and picked up some more balls for inventory. Nonetheless thank you for signing Yasiel.

Game started and after the top of the 2nd Skip who was playing left field today finished his tosses and I yelled out to him and got him to toss me the ball. It was a good omen as he soon became the player of the game with a double and more importantly a two run bomb to center. Thank you again Skip for the ball.

Ryu pitched a great game and over 7 evenings just gave up two hits and one earned run as he collected another win. With the Diamondbacks losing the Dodgers gained another game on them and now lead by 1.5. This team is so fun to watch now and I can't wait to get a healthy Kemp back into the lineup. Let's go boys.
