8.20.15 Dodger Penguin #walletcard Contest Update and Standings

Contest just started but I wanted to give an update plus how future updates will come about.

I will post the pictures that were used in the contest here in a "timely" manner and show who earned the point or points for said picture so there is no discrepancy on the winner. IF for some reason there is and you think you have a claim to a point that was assigned to someone else please bring it up to my attention and I will look into the matter. At the bottom of this post will be the continuously updated standings.

Kershaw #walletcard Contest Blog Specific Point Earning Opportunity # 6

It's been quite some time for a blog specific post about the #kershawwalletcard contest so to celebrate Memorial Day weekend how about one pertaining to Captain America?

I've been going back and forth between baseball books and comic books as I have been catching up on some older Marvel stories and I just finished up with this Omnibus. Great read by the way.

DodgerPenguin Wallet Card Contest

The above Kershaw card is now in my wallet for it's "year" of adventure. 

Yesterday was the one year anniversary of the greatest contest I won on Twitter and/or a blog.

I entered a contest held by my favorite blogger The Dutch Card Guy from across the pond and after a full day of leaving comments I was one of the four finalists to earn the right to chose one of 7 cards he was contesting away. With the luck of the draw aka random.org I came out the winner earning the top pick to which of the 7 I preferred. I walked away with this:

Damn, it's still great looking to this day. The only sticker autograph of Kershaw I am keeping in my collection due to the work I put in for it and the happiness it still brings me. Thank you again for running the contest. You can read the recaps about the contest HERE and HERE .

Well I feel it's time to finally give back to the community that has given me so much in the 15+ months that I have been so warming invited into. I decided to incorporate the #walletcard game into this contest. I will probably be running other various contests during the year but this one will be an ongoing one till the day after the last game of the 2015 World Series. Hence why I have stated the wallet card's "year" as it will be a baseball year not a calendar year. In my eyes baseball season is officially here so this contest will run from today till sometime in late October.

Now for the rules, prizes and what you need to do/know to potentially win a card of your choice.

I will contest out 7 autograph different cards (potentially one photo) which I am still figuring out which ones to do. I will do a separate post on that in the next month or so once I finalize it. Dodger Fan Fest is right around the corner so I might acquire an autograph or two from there to include in the contest. One thing for sure is there will be at one KERSHAW and one KEMP autograph among the 7 autographs. I earned/won a Kershaw now I give/gift a Kershaw.

Now for the point system and prize give out section:
You can earn at least one point and potentially up to five points on each question depending on what point value I assign to it. Harder the question the more points it's worth.
I might do a question a day or not one for a weeks so keep an eye out.
Once all points are tallied you will earn that amount of entries into the drawing. I will use random.org and will randomize it 7 times. After the 1st winner is determined he or she will be taken out of the mix and the remaining people are randomized again 7 times with their total earned points for the 2nd winner and so on and so forth till we have 7 "winners". In honor of how I won my Kershaw card the 1st winner gets to pick his or her choice of the cards and then the second goes till all people have chosen their prize.

ALL answers must be sent via INSTAGRAM as that is the easiest way to tell which correct answer came first.
Depending on the question answers may not need to be very specific but have to be better than immensely vague. For example, if the Kershaw card shows up at a Hooters restaurant, stating it's at a Hooters restaurant is sufficient enough. No need to state which one in whatever town I am in. Stating "some restaurant" is not a valid answer. Hope that helps.

Contest #11 Results

The contest is over and all the entries have been accounted for and now let's see who has won this autograph photo of Matt Kemp who happens to be one of the hottest players in baseball since the All Star break. I also have picked out 7 cards in addition to the photo. Thank you to everyone that participated in the contest. I tried a little something different this time by doing "where is Matthew" while I was in Texas a couple weeks ago. Didn't want the same old some old comment and retweet entries even though those options were still included. I will try to figure out something else for the next contest.

As usual Jesse had the most entries with a total of 21 but Aus came in second with a total of 15. Alex and Greg came in next with 9 and 6 respectively. Four others had one entry each but all it takes is one as Jesse has been top dog before pertaining to entries but did not come out the winner.

I put all the names in random.org and hit the random button 27 times in honor of Matt Kemp. Here are the results :

Sorry for the small font but I wanted to get the whole list and the time stamp on one shot but as everyone can see Jesse climbed the mountain and came out on top. Contest #11 - Matt Kemp Signed Photo, Cards and Whatever Else I Feel Like Throwing In

. . . It's time for another Dodger Penguin contest and this one will run a little differently than the others in the past.

First lets go over the prize(s). The main thing is this signed 8x10 photo of Matt Kemp. I received the photo on trade from a fellow blogger but the signature is in black ink. As I collect more and more I want autographs to be more and more uniform and this one black autograph conflicts with all the other ones that are in blue. Yeah, I know I am picky but that makes you the lucky ones as I am now contesting it out.

I will be also be adding at least 5-10 cards of the Bison as well. If you follow the blog you might remember that last week I blogged about getting out of the non premium/autograph portion of the hobby and now I have Kemp cards I don't need. Not sure which ones I will doing but if you look at the collection tab on the main blog page just take a look at the Kemp cards that are not autographs and at least 5 of those will be heading your way. 

I have been having major luck with BGS and eBay auctions in the past month so I will pass it forward if this blog can get up to 65 followers by the end of the contest. If it does reach that amount I will add an Allen and Ginter autograph of Matt Kemp to the prize booty. Keep that in mind so if you know anyone that is not following direct them this way to raise that number. 

At the end of the contest which will run through the 21st (Sunday) of this month all entries will be put into random.org and I will then have it randomize the list 27 times. Now on how to earn entries.

1st - each day leave a comment on this blog post and you will earn one entry. So a max of 12 entries if you do that every day.

2nd - each day you may (and hopefully) retweet this contest on Twitter and that will also earn you one entry each day. Also a max of 12 entries.

3rd - I am going on vacation from September 10th to September 13th and I will be posting questions/pictures during each day and you have to guess what is in the picture or where I am at. It can't be too vague as well. "A purple building" is not good enough. You have to state what building it is. Yes, a little foot work is needed for this contest. How bad do you want the Kemp autograph(s)?

With that said the questions I post on Twitter MUST be answered on Twitter and whoever gives me the right answer first on my timeline earns the entry point. There will be at least 5-10 questions during 4 day period, so plenty of chances.

Contest #10 Results

First and foremost, Go Kings Go !!!

What a game seven with the Blackhawks. The Kings prevailed in their 3rd road game 7 of this post season and this was the one I was not comfortable with going in. In the 1st round there was no way the Kings would be denied and with the Ducks I was pretty confident. This one though I was nervous and when they fell behind 2-0 I like most fans thought they might have used up their nine lives. Well another day is here and we are still playing. I took this picture with Lord Stanley's Cup 2 years ago and want to take another this summer. We can do this.

Alright enough of that. Thank you again to everyone that participated in this contest. It had the biggest turn out with Jesse earning 33 entries followed by Kyle with 30 and Wilson with one less at 29. All together there were 12 different people entered. I have won my fair share of contests and glad I can pass it on. Thank you again and I will have another contest up shortly. Now lets get to the winners.

The first winner will be whoever is in the first position after 10 spins on random.org. After that whoever is in first after 15 spins (5 plus the original 10) which was numbered picked by Jesse who runs the blog Section117bib as he earned it with his number of entries. IF it happens to be the same person then whoever is in position 7 will be declared the winner. So lets get to randomizing.

Big list of 145 entries. Couldn't get all of it on one screen shot so I just did the top and the bottom. Jesse with the most entries is the 1st winner. He actually was in the first position 6 out of the 10 spins. Congrats Jesse. Now for five more spins and lest see who comes out on top.

Well that didn't go as planned. Jesse is on top again so I went with position 7 as stated and look who is sitting there as well? So like yesterday's King game we go to overtime. Will spin till number one is not Jesse or if he is and he is not also position seven. Here we go.

*** UPDATE 5.14.14 *** Contest #10 - 2014 Bowman Dodger Team Set and Possibly More

It's been awhile but it's time for another contest.

This time around I will stagger in some more cards if I get more followers to my blog. Not asking you to hunt me down followers but if your retweets on twitter and/or your pimping on your own blog helps me get more then I will throw in more cards.

Regular readers I am sure have seen that I entered into a few case breaks of  2014 Bowman baseball and I have plenty left over to give out.

So the base prize is the above 16 cards which are all the Dodgers is paper form from the 2014 set. They include Urias and Guerrero. Those hot rookies everyone loves. If my blog acquires 5 more followers for a total of 60 I will throw in the 6 chrome set of the prospects from the same set. After that every 2 more followers I will throw in more cards. The first will be an autograph of my choosing and then after that a relic card and so and so on.
