It may not be a 9.5 but it's nice knowing that I will be adding another mint Kershaw autograph to the collection especially considering I was pretty sure this would come in as an 8.5 from the raw card review. Considering this is a silver parallel I guess it is appropriate that it will have a silver banner above it. 

When I submitted this to Beckett for a RCR I crossed my fingers that it would come back as a 9 and not a 8.5 which I feared and my prayers were answered as it indeed received a 9. Off to Dallas the card went to get the full slab treatment and with it I would learn what the sub grades actually were and I am surprised that this was closer to a 9.5 than an 8.5. 

I expected the corners and/or edges to earn an 8.5 but neither did with edges actually earning a 9.5. 2 9's and 2 9.5's were the subs and even though I would only need 1 sub to get an extra .5 to get a gold banner I will not be doing that as I am satisfied with this card's return.

Raw Card Review Recap Number Two From Submission Batch On Saturday September 10th, 2013 (2015 Gypsy Queen Clayton Kershaw Autograph Silver Patallel)

Now for the one card I am very worried will come back with less than a 9 attached to it.

Upon closer inspection I notice that 2 of the corners on the back have fraying issues. Now does that downgrade that sub grade to an 8 or can it possibly hold at an 8.5? Hopefully the latter and not the former but I am that unsure hence why it is in the RCR batch instead of going straight to Dallas for the full slabbing treatment. Hopefully it will be in that batch but I must do this step 1st as I can not stand less than 9's on my Kershaw autographs.

Something, something, something, 8.5

That is my prediction on the sub grades for this card. As stated there were issues with some corners and there is no possible way that they would receive a 9 or higher. Of course if they received an 8 then it would have been impossible for the overall to be a 9 which this card earned. So the 1 sub grade I am sure of is the 8.5 that the corners earned. That's good because I did not want to get rid of another Kershaw autograph to acquire another one with a sure grade.

Card of the Day - 2015 Gypsy Queen : Clayton Kershaw Autograph Silver Parallel (39/50)

Another autograph card for my Kershaw collection was recently added with ease when I picked up this silver parallel of Clayton on an eBay steal.

I am on the fence with most Gypsy Queen autograph cards that are not of the mini frame variety. Those are always top notch in my eyes but these are hit and miss for me. This is not the most visually appealing card but when a seller has this listed for more than 60% off of book on a BIN auction I had to look into picking it up.

Knowing that Gypsy Queen has a history of corner chipping I inquired with the seller on the condition of them and was told he had no guarantee but from what he could remember they were decent. To me when I hear that word I expect/hope that they are good enough to earn a 9 from BGS if I was to submit it to them for grading which I do with all Kershaw autographs. I took the gamble and clicked the BIN button and crossed my fingers.

Now in hand and under a loop I think they will hold to a 9 and I probably just added another mint Kershaw autograph to my road to 100 project.

Oh yeah. Time again for another potential gem mint Kershaw autograph to be added to the collection. This card really becomes a deal if/when it comes back with a gold banner as the original "purchase" was a steal and once it made to my grubby little hands I could see no flaws but from past history mini frames at times have cause me problems. The autograph is perfectly centered as well as the card itself and I don't see anything else to worry myself over but I am still crossing my fingers.

While I love all my Kershaws to at least earn a mint 9 I really want my autographs of Clayton to earn a 9.5 so when one comes back like this I get slightly irked. I was right that the autograph was perfect and that it was centered nicely but I did not foresee the corners being dinged to an 8.5. But even if those received a 9 the card would still have been a mint 9 as surface and edges both earned a 9. It is what it is but in the end I add yet another certified mint Kershaw autograph to the collection and that is never a bad thing. Thankfully there are gem mints of Kershaw in this batch to be seen later on.

Never even really close to 9.5

Card of the Day - 2015 Gypsy Queen : Clayton Kershaw Mini Frame Autograph Retail Exclusive (4/25)

Going to try my luck again.

Awhile ago I posted about my most recent "disappointing" result pertaining to a Kershaw autograph. I want a gem mint Kershaw autograph from each year and I had submitted a 2015 Topps Museum to BGS and I thought it might sneak in as a gem as I knew the corners were an issue. No such luck as it came back an 8.5. I cracked it open and sold it back on eBay with the intention to buy another 2015 autograph and after some searching I came away with a steal.

I thought of about trying it again with another Museum autograph but I came across this card and while it was titled properly on eBay the seller missed one important fact. Unlike other cards this could only be found in retail packs and with it numbered to only 25 that makes it a hard card to get your hands on. Beckett has this booked from $125-$250 and this seller had it up for $150 with a best offer option. It had 2 hours left till the auction ended and I was 1 of 2 watchers so I decided to send him a bid to see how bad he wanted to get rid of it. I sold the Museum card for a little over $80 so I sent this seller an offer for a little over $80 so I wouldn't have to spend anything out of pocket. He countered with an offer of $125. I politely said no thanks as others have sold for less (which they have) and moved on. Not 15 minutes later he accepted my offer as he stated he wanted to buy something else and he didn't have time to relist it again. Woo hoo.

Now with this in hand it looks to be in much better condition than the Museum that earned an 8.5 and when BGS is back out here again I will for sure be submitting this in the hopes of getting my 2015 gem mint autograph of Mr. Kershaw.
