Card of the Day - 2014 Bowman Chrome : Yimi Garcia Base Autograph

Even though I have stated before that I would not be acquiring any more non parallel autographs of Dodger players I couldn't pass up such a great deal once it was presented to me.

I thought I was done with Yimi as I purchased the blue autograph parallel on eBay and made a trade with Judson of My Cardboard Habit for the base refactor version. I was content with my Yimi collection but when I was able to pick this up for a just a little over a dollar how can you pass that up? Card books for $8 which seems a few dollars too high but there was no way I was going to pass it up when I could have it for that low amount.

So I have added a card I had no intention to. I welcome it to my collection but if anyone is interested in it, it could be had in a trade for something else I might need.

Card of the Day - 2014 Bowman Chrome : Yimi Garcia Base Photo Variation

Another staple of my collection that I will still collect, even with the refocus, are photo variations.

I have a couple of the big names (Kemp, Kershaw) and still looking for others but within the Bowman Chrome brand they like to spotlight the variations on up and coming players. I luckily picked up Corey Seager earlier in the year from the 2013 release but this year's release has a few that hold my interest and I was able to pick up my first one.

Yimi Garcia was called up this year for the first time and with that I thought this card would command a little more than I paid for it. Book has this card valued at $10 but I only paid a quarter of that which makes this a nice little pick up at a reasonable rate.

Hope to see him with the team next year.

Card of the Day - 2014 Bowman Chrome : Yimi Garcia Base Autograph Blue Refractor Parallel (34/150)

The Yimi autograph collection continues in its backwards fashion. First the limited black bowman collection, then a side step to a photo variation and now this blue refractor parallel. I am still on the hunt for the base refractor but that should be easy enough to pick up.

I expect Yimi to be on the big league club next year as I thought he proved enough this year to earn a roster spot. If he is not on the club then I expect him to one of the 1st to be called up if something is not working at the major league level.

Blue is always the best parallel when it comes to Dodger cards and this one is no different. So when I finally was able to lock this card in for a mere five bucks after multiple losses I was more than happy to scoop it up and take another step to completing my 2014 Yimi autograph collection. Only one more to go.

Trade with Fellow Blogger : Judson of My Cardboard Habit - 2014 Bowman Chrome Yimi Garcia Base Autograph Refractor ( 301 / 500 ) Plus Bonus Card

This is my second trade with Judson of My Cardboard Habit and just like the first one this one was completed without a hitch.

A couple weeks ago I checked up on his blog and saw that he did a post on his trade bait inventory. Though he has/had a long list of cards that were up for grabs I did not expect much in the way of Dodgers and I was right. I scrolled down to the Dodgers section there was but one lone card BUT it was the card I needed to complete my mini Yimi project from this year's Bowman Chrome release.

I already had the blue autograph parallel and I have been waiting for the base refractor to come down in price on eBay so I could snatch it up but Judson had it and was willing to part with it. I contacted him and he put it aside for me till we could figure out what I could send him in return. He was looking for Rangers autographs but I had none as I am not a Ranger collector but thankfully he still had some base Topps needs from the 2013 release. I think it was about 14 cards I sent him and he was content with that. Within the week we both had our cards and from my side I couldn't be happier. Thank you again for the card.

. . .but wait there's more. In addition to the Yimi card he threw in this gold parallel of Ricky Nolasco from the Topps Chrome issue. I tried to forget that he was on the Dodgers but Judson reminded me that he was. Thanks. Ha Ha.

Thank you for the bonus card. Not sure where it will slot into my collection but I am sure I will find a good place for it.

Card of the Day - 2014 Bowman Platinum : Yimi Garcia Black Collection Autograph ( 24 / 25 )

Just like 2014 Inception I have no interest whatsoever in this year's Platinum Brand. This was another of the 2013 sets I collected which I eliminated from my pursue list this year. But just like Inception there are a couple of cards I do want out of Platinum. Two Dodgers are represented in it that I have no autographs of which are Schebler and Yimi Garcia.

Schebler will come to me when I find the right price and there are plenty to chose from so he is not a priority. Yimi on the other hand had two options to go after with this one being the most coveted. Yimi is represented in the base set with various parallels to chose from ( where Schebler's autograph will be coming from ) but Yimi also is in the continuing set that is inserted across all the Bowman products. The Bowman Black Autograph set is one of my favorites to collect and once I knew Yimi was part of it this would be the autograph I wanted to have of him in my collection.

With only 25 copies I knew there weren't going to be many chances to pick this up but with him not being that big of a name I didn't expect much of a bidding war when one would pop up on the bay. Well the first one that did show up and ended up selling for over $21. I wasn't in on that one but this one had no action on it compared to the first one and I ended up being the winner for it at a click over $8. Quite a difference between the two but I am not one to complain when it favors me.

Card(s) of the Day - 2014 Bowman : Whole Lot of Blue, Silver Ice, Home/State and Chrome of Multiple Dodgers

Silver Ice of Ryu, Greinke, Coyle and Crawford

The latest and probably last big purchase (volume wise) of 2014 Bowman has hit my mailbox. Wanted to put a big dent in my need list so I went back to one of my most reliable sellers on eBay to see what he might have in stock for me purchase. Still needing over 30 cards I was hoping to comply a big buy from him.

Silver Ice of Yimi and Ethier

At the same time I wanted to keep costs at a minimum. One reason I always go back to this seller is that he has most of his cards up on BIN auctions but if you are a past customer and you don't try to low ball him on offers he is receptive to working with you.

Needing all different types of parallels with the blue ones being a priority I searched his store and came up with a nice sized list of what I wanted. Every single one was a BIN auction with prices ranging from $1.50 to $2.25. Started shooting him the offers as fast as I could so he saw that I was intending to buy more than one.

After about the 5th offer ( not even half way done ) I started to receive emails stated he was accepting my offers which gave me the go ahead in my head to keep going as I assumed he would accept them all.

In the end I sent him 13 offers for 13 cards and he accepted every single one of them. The grand total would have been an average of a $1 a card but Corey's blue mini was "pricey" which bumped up the average to a little over $1.40.

Reasonable I thought. As always I promptly paid him and he promptly shipped out the cards the next day and I had them in hand within a few days. Another smooth and painless transaction with a trusted eBay seller. The end is in sight for the 2014 Bowman set.

Card of the Day - 2014 Bowman : Yimi Garcia Base Chrome Blue Refractor Parallel ( 226 / 250 )

One dollar
Two dollars
Another blue chrome for the collection.

What seems to be endless pursuit of acquiring all the Dodger cards from this year's Bowman set continues. I am still hoping to pick up all the chrome parallels on eBay and then work on the base cards at local stores or possibly Frank and Sons.

With that said and with most of Urias cards behind me now I can work on lesser rookies to chase after and I was able to pick up this one for minimal effort. Seller was asking $2 for the card and in the end I was the high and only bid on the auction and received the card a few days later.
