Card of the Day - 2017 Gypsy Queen : Corey Seager Base Autograph Black and White Parallel (40/99)

I took quite a gamble considering this is a Gypsy Queen card and I acquired it basically sight unseen so I put lots of faith in the seller's feedback. Looks like I did alright.

GQ is a paper product and with that there always seems to be conditioning issues when I hunt a copy of a particular card down. I love black and white parallels and when I heard that Corey would have an on card autograph on said parallel I had hoped to land one at some point. Well this seller on eBay (perfect feedback) had 1 for sale which I originally passed on. 2 days later the same seller adjusted his auction to state he now had 2 copies and lowered the price by $15. It was now far and away the best deal on the auction site. Problem was that with 2 copies being available I had no idea which 1 I would receive so I crossed my fingers and hit the button to complete the transaction. Week later I had this in hand and other than a slight fraying corner on the back side there does not seem to be any issue. Not a bad transaction for me and hopefully I can turn it into BGS Gold.

Card of the Day - 2017 Topps Tribute : Corey Seager Base Autograph (148/199)

Guess some people either just don't care how much a card of their's sells for as long as it sells. That is the feeling I felt when I acquired this card just a hour after it was listed. Not complaining mind you but some things just boggle my mind.

This card went live a few hours after it was released and a seller on eBay had it listed for a nice round number of $100. Of course there was no book value for it but that said there was no way I was interested in it at triple digits. He did have a best offer option and I sent him one for almost 60% off his asking price. Not 10 minutes later I received an email that I won the card with not counter from the seller. Go figure.

Card of the Day - 2017 Topps Heritage : Mike Trout Base Chrome Blue Refractor Parallel (51/68)

A streak continues yet 1 ends while another one is holding on by a thread but won't know that result until BGS rolls back in town in a couple of months.

I am moving away from most parallels as I am concentrating on just autographs now but Heritage chrome still holds a special place in my heart and I will continue pursuing then for the foreseeable future hence that streak continues. What did stop this year was Topps went from chrome having a black parallel to blue which I am not a fan of. I love blue and all but I liked how all my Heritage chromes where all black and now it will have a different color in the group. It will be more of a standout if they revert back to black in 2018 which I hope they do. The streak that is in jeopardy is will this earn a 9.5 from BGS as every other Trout Heritage chrome I have submitted has earned that grade. This one has some issues on corners and not sure what mood the grader will be in when he sees this. On the front it is fine but the back and under the loop shows the problems. Crossing my fingers but not holding my breath.

March 2017 BGS Submission Result Number THIRTY-TWO of FORTY-TWO - 2017 Topps Corey Seager 1987 Styled Autograph Now BGS Graded Gem Mint 9.5

Didn't even need to worry about this card as at the end of the day it earned quad 9.5's on its categories.

When I first saw this card I knew I wanted a copy for my collection. When I received this card I was afraid that it would not earn a gem mint grade as 2 of the corners were a little too fuzzy in opinion. Well low and behold the grader who looked at this didn't see it that way and now I have another gold banner for my Seager collection.

Card of the Day - 2017 Topps : Corey Seager Base 1987 Card Design Autograph Maple Wood Parallel (21/25)

I got wood!

I picked up the base 1987 designed autograph of Seager awhile back and thought I was done as even though I knew there were 2 parallels (Ash Wood #/10 being the other) I wasn't planning on picking up that one or this one but that changes when sales of your own far exceed what you expected them to go for so after expenses were paid I had leftover coin for a nice card. This is that card.

This had been on a BIN for quite sometime and had no best offer option but I kept it on my watch list as it was a candidate for my quarterly eBucks purchase but one day in February eBay was running an eBucks promotion and said auctions of mine had just concluded and I was flush with extra money. I sent over an email to the seller to see if he would meet me at a price that was more to my liking but still fair to him. Not 10 minutes later he sent me a private offer and I became the proud owner of this faux wood card. I didn't expect it to be in perfect condition and it's not. The front it almost perfect to me but the back has some fraying on the corners so I think this will earn a 9 from BGS and I will put that to the test when they come back in town in Sept/Oct for their next raw card review event. Now...do I try for that Maple? Hmmm.....

Card of the Day - 2017 Topps Heritage : Corey Seager Base Autograph Red Ink Variant (10/68)

Heritage is a great set year in and year out but I am on the fence with the look of this year's set as I am not the biggest fan of the borders of the cards. That said I knew I wanted a handful of cards from the set and this is the biggest of the bunch and luckily the 1st I was able to acquire.

My goal is to have an autograph of every home run that Corey hits in his career which will probably put me in at least needing 300 when all is said and done. This card's acquisition also continues a yearly project that I have started for Corey and that is to have the base and red ink autographs of each year Corey signs in this set. Obviously I also hope for them to gem when I submit them to BGS for grading and I feel that this one is borderline 9/9.5 as a couple of corners give me concern. I now have both the 2016 and 2017 red inks and only need the base from this year's set to complete my ongoing project.

Card of the Day - 2017 Topps Heritage : Corey Seager Base Chrome Blue Refractor Parallel (28/68)

I am making fast work of my want list from this year's Topps Heritage set. Granted it was(n't) that long considering it only consists of 3 players but the cards are not the easy to come by. That said here is another one that I welcome with open arms.

I am not really a fan of this year's "Blue" chrome parallel as I prefer the black that they have always done but since that color is no longer an option I must continue my projects for Kershaw and Trout and pick up this year's Blues of them. Starting this year I can add Seager to that list and I was able to acquire this one without much of a hassle. Of course I hope that all my colored chromes can earn a 9.5 from BGS and this one is borderline in my opinion. Centering, surface and edges all look good. The issue is that 3 of the corners on the back side have a little whitening going on. It's very minimal and can only be seen under a loop so as long as they can hold to a 9 I should be golden.

Card of the Day - 2017 Topps Heritage : Clayton Kershaw Base Chrome Blue Refractor Parallel (36/68)

Other than the autographs in the Heritage brand my other quest are to acquire players I collect in the limited black chrome refractor parallels they release every year. Of course this year Topps threw everyone a curve and instead of Black they went with Blue. I love Blue and all but now the set wont be color coordinated through the years as everything is Black but the 2017 ones. Of course that didn't and won't stop me from acquiring them.

Of the 3 players (Seager and Trout being the others) Kershaw is the "cheapest" to snag when it comes to these parallels and this year was no different. Also not surprisingly one of my favorite eBayer sellers is a case breaker of the Heritage brand and like the last 2 years he had one of these Blue (Black in previous years) up for sale and I was able to pick it up with no hassle and no money out of pocket which always makes it sweeter. Now hopefully like in previous years this will grade out to a 9.5 like all the others. More chance than not it will but I am a tad concerned with one corner that is chipping but it's not too bad so there is hope for a gold banner.

Card of the Day - 2017 Topps : Corey Seager 1987 Card Design Autograph

I remember back in 1987 ( I  was a wee 13 year old boy then ) and when that year's Topps set came out I hated it with a passion. I did not like light wood in any aspect of my life but I guess I matured and I have started to like wood stuff in everyday life. Well I wasn't planning to get anything this early in the year baseball card wise but when I found out that Corey had ON CARD signed his cards from the new set I wanted 1 for my collection.

This is a big deal actually as most years the flagship brand always has sticker autographs which I despise. There are/were some limited (numbered) ones out there but I wasn't that concerned in getting one of those as I just wanted to add another Seager autograph to the collection. After all the hysteria of the new release had died down the prices became more reasonable and then this one popped up on an eBay eBucks promotion day and with zero hesitation I snagged it. Sending it to BGS to get graded and I'd say it has a 50/50 of gemming. We shall see.

Thank you for reading and have a blessed day.
