Card of the Day - 2016 Stadium Club : Clayton Kershaw Base Autograph Gold Parallel (8/25) and Quarterly eBay Bucks Purchase Number TWO

... and now for the 2nd of 2 eBay eBucks "purchases" and how can you go wrong when you get to pick up a Clayton Kershaw autograph for free? Yeah, you can't.

When I decided to use my eBucks for a Kershaw card I knew it had to either be a rare graded one or an autograph so I can add to my quest of having a 100 signatures from the Dodger great. Didn't find a graded card to my liking so I turned my attention to the newly released Stadium Club as I knew there was an autograph of Kershaw that I wanted to get my hands on at some point and what better time than now when it would be "free" to me.

The 2015 release of Stadium Club has an autograph of Kershaw that celebrates his no hitter and I am still waiting to receive that from Topps as I acquired it in redemption form. Other bloggers have stated it might be a very long wait as the black parallel hasn't been produced yet and that is the one I am waiting for. Well this year's release again celebrates that special moment but from a different view and I knew I wanted this card as it was NOT in redemption form and is live and ready to purchase. A few copies have popped up here and there but I could see that their were chipping problems on some corners. This one popped up on the bay one day on a BIN for $200 but thankfully with a best offer option. The seller and I went back and forth for a couple of hours but at the end of the day I snagged it for 35% less than what he originally wanted for it.

Now that it is in hand I can say it will probably earn a 9 from BGS when I submit it. The autograph is flawless but there is a corner issue but even though it is minor I think that sub grade earns a 9. There is always an outside chance of a gem mint return but I'll shoot low and hope for a high.

  1. Whoa! That is a beauty. I'm sure Kershaw will think twice to catch a leaping AJ Ellis now....

    1. Aint that the truth? And you know after Becketts No No you see AJ always chucks his mask when he takes it off.

  2. Well this looks a bit familiar! Congrats on another beautiful Kershaw auto. Two best friends embracing. Ellis can;t hit a lick, but I still love the guy. Future manager possibly? AJ is super intelligent and would be great.

    1. The Dodgers would be stupid if AJ ever left the club after his playing days. Yes, we now own 2 of the 25 out there. LOL. Now if my black 2015 could ever make it to me Id be very happy.

    2. Or Vinny's eventual replacement. Joe Davis is pretty stellar though.

    3. I'm aiting for my 2015 black auto too! Sadly, I doubt they will ever be made. I sure hope I'm wrong though.... Yes, AJ's value to the team is so much more than just his numbers. He may just be the smartest catcher in the league.

Hmm, I can't say I'm a big fan of Joe Davis. There's just something about him, but I can't put my finger on it. Every time he speaks, he sounds "dorky" to me. Then again, I've been spoiled by the classy legend for my entire life. Maybe I will start warming up to Joe, but we'll see.

    4. You have a gold AND still waiting for a black as well? You put my Kershaw autograph collection to shame. Love your deep pockets. LOL. Yeah, hopefully AJ is with us for the long run.

    5. I have 7 pending Kershaw redemptions, none of which I expect to ever get. It's pretty upsetting, but there's nothing I can really do. I already took a replacement for the Kershaw/Weaver dual auto from 2013. I ended up with a Machado Bowman Rookie auto-blue refractor. Machado is amazing, but he's not a Dodger! I think I came out ahead on that one though. Maybe I'll show it on my next post.
