BGS Submission Update Two - 2009 Topps : Clayton Kershaw Ticket to Stardom Autograph ( 148 / 489 ) Now Graded and Slabbed a Mint 9
Original Submission Post
Beckett Book Value : $80
Second result entry and second Kershaw in the batch.
While I did not expect much from this card as in the original post I had this as 3rd on the least likely for greatness and here it is at number two but I did not expect a 9 grade on the autograph. I figured that the card would receive an overall grade of mint which it did but I did not and still can not see any issues with the autograph. Why must Beckett torment me with these non 10 grades for autographs? It really is luck of the draw on who grades what at their offices as I have seen faded autographs get 10's and then this one and others like it receive less than a 10. Sigh...
Well at least the card is mint and not near mint like the 1st Kershaw. Of course with that said I think the NM one is still a "better" card considering it has 3 9.5 sub grades.

I'm always fascinated how grades turn out. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteSometimes there is no rhymn or reason.
DeleteA sticker auto? You've changed, Matthew... ;)
ReplyDeleteAgreed BUT i did acquire it long ago at a great deal. No more in the future though
DeleteI can actually help you out on this one. I recently submitted a sticker auto for grading and it came back a 9 as well. The reason for the 9 was because part of the auto trailed off the sticker. Since the "C" runs along the edge of the sticker, I'm almost certain that's why the auto got a 9.
ReplyDeleteI have found that out as. Which makes me think that i will be disappointed in my next submission. Some times i can understand but when it runs to the edge on an on card version i dont think it should be downgraded. Oh well
DeleteMan, I remember when this card could be had for $15-20. Should have made it a priority back then haha.
ReplyDeleteMan, that is a sweet card.
ReplyDeleteTy sir. Sticker on not
DeleteOr i meant. Haha
DeleteYeah. Kershaw hoarding is a tad pricier now
