Card of the Day - 2016 Topps Heritage : Clayton Kershaw Base Color Swap Variation

This will be the first card from the newly released Topps Heritage set but it was not the first to be acquired but I ended up getting all of them in the mail the same day and Kershaw just happened to be the chosen one to be posted about first.

I have seen color swaps before in the Heritage brand but I have never owned one till now. Waited for a few days after the set's release and eBay became flooded with this short print of Clayton and all I had to do was chose which one I wanted. Plenty of auctions were going on but a seller put such a low BIN price on this and wanting it for the recent BGS submission I pulled the trigger and picked this up.

Like most paper cards (non chrome) there is always quality issues and this one is no different. This copy falls under the borderline area of 9 and 9.5 as centering is not 50/50 which is fine but coupled with an edge that is a tad suspect I think this might come back as a 9. Not gonna lie and say I would be disappointed with that silver banner but it is what it is and I decided to take the gamble. We shall see if it pays off in a couple of weeks.

Thank you for reading and have a blessed day.

  1. Nice, I'm planning to pick one up for myself...I've noticed that a majority of the cards from this years release are off center.

    1. Yes, very irritating. I just landed a Trout that looks pretty centered but for the most others you are on point
