The long journey to acquire a gem mint limited autograph rookie card of Ryu is finished.
Ryu is the final post of the week and for good reason. Unlike and stated in yesterday's post Ryu here can be considered an investment piece as his value should and hopefully will go up. Also even though it is not as limited as Frank's ( Ryu's 99 copies to Frank's 25 ) it is from my beloved Bowman Chrome brand and it is the blue parallel which is my favorite parallel. The final reason for Ryu's card ranking as number one is the grade.
Prior to my submission I ranked this card as number one as I expected it would grade out well and looking back on my predictions I was spot on for the most part. The final difference between this and Frank's is the strength of the grade of Ryu's card. While Frank also was a 9.5 overall it was "weakened" by one sub grade of a 9. No such grade here with Ryu. His card received 9.5 on all the sub grades with a pristine 10 on autograph. A solid gem mint.
There were two main rookies on the Dodgers ( Puig and Ryu ) last year and now I own both in their Bowman Chrome blue autograph parallels and both have been graded gem mint. They make a nice pair. Each had a journey to reach this spot and it was fun one.
