Card of the Day - 2013 Topps Chrome : Matt Kemp Base Photo Variation

99% of the time when I acquire a card I write up an entry and let it sit in the que until it's turn to be published. This is one of those rare times when I receive it in hand and I felt compelled to write up a post and publish it the next day. Not because it's of Kemp. Not because its chrome. But because of the price I paid for it and still didn't believe it till I opened up the package to see if the seller actually sent me the card he posted and that I purchased. It came in and it was one in the same.

I love all things Brooklyn Dodgers. Love the heritage of where the team came from. This particular card comes from the 2013 Topps Chrome set that had a number of photo variations which are immensely hard to pull out of packs. I have seen this card many of times online and with book at $50 and completed sales of over $30 and some nearing $50 it was on my want list but never at the top of it.

One day I went searching for Dodger photo variations in general and somehow I cam across this card. Don't know how as it was vastly mislabeled on the auction which happened to be a buy it now. So how much was the seller asking for?

Ninety nine cents delivered.

Are you kidding me? He probably just looked at the card number on the back of the card ( #20 ) then looked up its book value which is $1.25 for the non rare Kemp version and threw it up on eBay for 99 cents. He didn't know what he actually had in his hands. I didn't contact the seller as not to alert him to his mistake. I just purchased it, sent the money, watched the tracking number and waited to see what actually showed up at my door. The card pictured on the auction was the card that arrived. A major score for me. Great looking Jackie Robinson tribute card featuring still my favorite player Matt Kemp. A great addition to the collection for a measly handful of change.

eBay Gods were definitely on my side that day.

Just love when sellers do label right. Youve had some luck that way as well
